BREAKING: Trump’s “retarded” slur BACKFIRES as an Indiana Senate Republican whose daughter has Down syndrome torpedoes his gerrymandering plot in a powerful clap back.
Indiana Republicans thought they had their resurrected redistricting power grab locked down. Then Donald Trump did what Donald Trump always does: he opened his mouth, hurled a cruel slur at a Democratic governor, and in the process blew up his own party’s scheme — because this time, he insulted the wrong family.
Indiana State Senator Mike Bohacek, a Republican with a long record of advocating for Hoosiers with intellectual disabilities, just detonated a political bombshell. In a blunt Facebook post that sent shockwaves through MAGA circles, Bohacek announced he will vote NO on the Trump-backed redistricting plan — explicitly because the president used the slur “retarded” to attack Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
And Bohacek wasn’t vague about why. His daughter has Down syndrome. Trump’s language wasn’t “controversial” or “impolite.” It was personal.
“Those of you that don’t know me or my family might not know that my daughter has Down Syndrome,” Bohacek wrote. “This is not the first time our president has used these insulting and derogatory references and his choices of words have consequences. I will be voting NO on redistricting.”
Choices have consequences. That’s not something Trump has ever believed in, but now he’s learning the hard way.
The article Bohacek attached — “Tim Walz Responds to Donald Trump Calling Him ‘Seriously Retarded’” — makes the whole saga even uglier. Trump’s late-night meltdown included xenophobic attacks on Somali Americans, wild conspiracy claims about “gangs roving the streets,” and an attempt to smear Walz with an ableist insult so outdated and cruel that no decent person would say it out loud, let alone the president of the United States.
Walz didn’t just fire back — he demanded Trump release his recent MRI results, a brutal reminder that the 79-year-old president’s own health is increasingly under scrutiny.
But even that wasn’t the headline. The headline came from inside Trump’s own party.
Because in Indiana — a deep-red state Republicans need to keep their gerrymandered advantage intact — one Republican senator is drawing a line in the sand that Trump cannot cross. Trump’s second attempt at redistricting in Indiana was supposed to be a done deal. Instead, Trump’s slur may have single-handedly tanked it.
Bohacek drove the point home: “Perhaps he can use the next 10 months to convince voters that his policies and behavior deserve a congressional majority.”
Translation: Grow up, apologize, or lose.
It’s a stunning rebuke — and a sign of just how fed up even some Republicans are with Trump’s nonstop cruelty. For years, he has insulted women, immigrants, veterans, Gold Star families, disabled people, entire communities — and GOP officials swallowed it. They laughed. They nodded. They excused it.
Not this time.
Not from a father who knows the real human beings Trump is demeaning.
And now? Trump’s party-line redistricting crusade — a key part of his plan to rig 2026 in his favor — may collapse because the president couldn’t stop himself from demeaning millions of Americans with disabilities.
This is what happens when a bully forgets that some people still have a spine.
